07/20/2010 - Kegel's "Garage Party"

SORRY FELLAS, THIS GARAGE IS FOR LADIES ONLY
Due to the Demand, Kegel Harley-Davidson Hosts its
10th "Garage Party" for Non-Riding Women Interested in Riding

Rockford, IL. (July 14, 2010) - For several years, women have increasingly embraced the sport of motorcycling: seeking the freedom and escape associated with an open road, polished chrome and a sweet sounding engine.  In fact today, the Motorcycle Industry Council estimates more than 12 percent of U.S. motorcyclists are women.

But while thousands of women live their lives on the open road, many remain stuck in neutral, dreaming about the wind in their face, unsure where to start.  To help, Kegel Harley-Davidson is hosting their 10th, free, non-riding women-only Garage Party TM event on Tuesday, July 20th between

6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Intimidation-Free Zone

The Kegel Harley-Davidson® Garage Party event provides an inviting environment for women to learn more about motorcycling and to meet other women who are interested in riding.  Garage Party guests can expect activities to be both entertaining and educational with topics including a review of the basic motorcycle controls, how to customize a motorcycle's style and ergonomics and how to gear up for a ride.

"Women and men ride for the same reasons: freedom, adventure and individuality. It's how they get going that's vastly different," said Leslie Prevish, women's outreach manager for Harley-Davidson Motor Company.  "Women tend to spend more time investigating the sport prior to getting involved. Garage Party events give women an interactive way to gather information."

Garage Party event attendees are organized into small groups, getting their first taste of the camaraderie that goes along with riding.  Groups will visit four informational stations, including:

Motorcycle Orientation to learn the basic differences between Harley-Davidson® motorcycle families.

MotorClothes
® Merchandise to discover the important attributes needed in motorcycle gear.

Customization
to learn how to customize a motorcycle to reflect a rider's personal style and ergonomic needs.

Self-Service
to find out how just about anyone can handle the weight of a motorcycle.

Between stations and during intermission, women get the chance to interact with each other, as well as hear from women who are already living their motorcycle dreams.

"A Garage Party event gives women a no-pressure chance to learn, socialize and ask questions," added Cheri McNeff, Marketing & Event Coordinator of Kegel Harley-Davidson."We're excited to provide a one stop shop for women who are looking for information about getting into the sport."

The Kegel Harley-Davidson Garage Party Event is free for any woman who is looking to take the next step to get behind the handlebars. The event is also obligation-free, but space is limited, so to reserve your spot please call Cheri McNeff from Kegel Harley-Davidson at (815) 332-7125 x213 or cheri@kegelmotorcycles.com.

Can't make it to this Garage Party event?  No problem. "Many Harley-Davidson dealerships have Garage Party events on their calendars this year," said Prevish. "Check with Kegel's to find out their Garage Party event schedule or visit www.harley-davidson.com/garageparty for more information."
