11/21/2011 - The Apollo Effect Returns to Freeport

Freeport (WIFR) - Toronto's The Apollo Effect Returns To Freeport, IL To Give Back With Toys For Tots Benefit

After sharing the stage with the likes of Filter, Tonic and Everclear at Freeport's Spirit of Peace & Music Festival, Spectra Recording Artist The Apollo Effect is returning to the area next month for a worthy cause. On December 2nd they take to the stage at 10 pm to perform at a Toys For Tots event at Jumpin' Joe's, at 1100 W. Galena Ave. With the holidays around the corner, the band wanted to take this opportunity to give back to a community that welcomed them with open arms during their first trip to the U.S. in August. According to lead vocalist Brent Lunney "Our experience in Freeport was amazing all around. The people were incredible. We couldn't be happier to have the opportunity to give back to a community that we'd like to soon call a home away from home."

Toys For Tots will have drop boxes placed inside the venue for toy donations; however donation is not necessary for admittance to the event. Help put smiles on these kids' faces by bringing a new, unwrapped toy for children from infants through age 16. The organization will also make buttons available for purchase for those that prefer to donate monetarily. All donations will be distributed directly to local families in the Stephenson County area.

On Thursday, December 1st at 10 pm The Apollo Effect will also be playing a special acoustic set at Eilert's, 1100 W. Galena Ave. in Freeport, with Noah Sugarman of 500 Miles To Memphis. For more information on Toys For Tots, click on their website at and check out The Apollo Effect at
